Happy Thanksgiving

On this Thanksgiving day I would be remiss if I didn't express thanks for all I've been blessed with.  I have had such a wonderful life and have been blessed beyond measure.  God has certainly opened the windows of heaven and poured out many blessings upon me.  

First and foremost I'm so thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and for His atonement for me.  Jesus is my source of hope and peace.  I'm so thankful for His life, teachings, and example.

I'm also extremely grateful for wonderful family.  I was blessed with goodly parents who went above and beyond for me and my siblings.  I miss them dearly.  My saintly parents taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ for which I'm eternally grateful.  The gospel has been a source of strength in my life.  

I'm also eternally grateful for my sister Lisa and brother-in-law Rex for their sacrifice to care for me full-time these last few years since Mom and Dad have graduated this life.  They are angels.  

I'm also grateful to be born in the promised land, and for the freedoms I enjoy in this country.  I'm grateful that President Trump's life was spared a few months ago. I'm grateful that President Trump won the election to help save our country from being destroyed and to preserve our freedoms.  It is very apparent that God is using President Trump as an instrument in His hands to bless all of us in this country.

I'm grateful for the hope of the resurrection of which I am very much looking forward to.  I'm grateful for eternal families.  I'm grateful for God's plan of happiness.  I'm grateful for the Holy Ghost for his guidance, comfort, and peace.

These are just a few of the many blessings I enjoy and am so grateful for. 

May we all reflect on our blessings today as we celebrate Thanksgiving.

November 22

I have a knack for remembering certain dates.  I guess it's a quirk I have.  Anyway, today marks 10 years since I broke my left femur.  It was November 22, 2014.  It was completely broken in two for nearly 7 months.  It wasn't surgically repaired until June 16, 2015 when my orthopedic surgeon put a nail (titanium rod) into the shaft of my femur (in the medullary canal).  

Incidentally, I just had my left knee x-rayed and it still looks good.  Albeit very osteopenic.  But not much different than when the hardware was placed there 10 years ago.  Thankfully it is still healed and hasn't given me any trouble since.

You may wonder why I waited over two weeks to seek treatment.  I actually did seek treatment at urgent care on November 22, 2014 but they wouldn't treat me because I'm a quadriplegic.  So I waited until I could get into an orthopedist.  Anyway that's another story.

These are my most recent x-rays from November 6, 2024, nearly 10 years postop.  I couldn't figure out how to screenshot the x-rays so I had Lisa take a picture of them for me and send them to me.  Thus the poor quality.  But you get the idea.  Notice how osteopenic my bones are.  You can hardly see them.  Dr. Putler said my bones were like butter.  That was 10 years ago!  Imagine how much worse they are now.

Coincidently November 22 is also the anniversary of JFK's assassination in 1963.  Can you believe that was 61 years ago?  Crazy.  I know there are all kinds of conspiracy theories regarding his death.  But if you believe the ex-CIA agent that Candace Owens interviewed recently, the CIA is responsible for his murder.

The American People Have Spoken

It's been a glorious couple of days.  The American people have spoken and elected President Donald J. Trump as our 47th President of the United States of America.  And it wasn't even close.  It was a landslide!

Not only did President Trump win with 312 electoral college votes to only 226 for Harris.  (270 votes were required to win  the election.)  But he also won the popular vote with over 73,000,000 Americans voting for President Trump to around 68,000,000 votes for Harris.  A Republican hasn't won the popular vote in 20 years.  And we regained control of the Senate and most likely control the house.  Not all votes are in yet, but it's looking good.  Can you imagine how much good can and will be done in these next four years?

I've been on cloud nine since Tuesday night.  The American people have spoken, and we have not minced words.  We want a President who has our best interest at heart.  We want a strong President who will stand up for us.  We want a masculine President who will fight for us.  We want a President who can negotiate with and intimidate world leaders for the betterment of the world.  We want a President who will preserve our freedoms and our great nation!

That is why we emphatically voted for President Trump.  We want America to be great again.  And that is what President Trump will do.  He's already proven that when he was President before.  He will do it again!  Even better!

I have no doubt that God preserved President Trump for this purpose.  

God bless President Trump and God bless America!

Happy 55th Anniversary

Today is my Mom and Dad's 55th wedding anniversary.  Even though they are both on the other side of the veil now, I still wanted to wish them a happy anniversary.  Love you both tons!

I'm very proud of my heritage and of my parents' good name.  I am so blessed to have been born of goodly parents.  I hope I can honor them and their legacy by the way I strive to live my life.

Happy 55th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!  I love you and miss you so much.  Got be with you till we meet again.

"The Lord Jesus Christ Will Come Again"

I now want to share with you some of my favorite quotes from our Prophet's General Conference talk.

"Brothers and sisters, now is the time for you and for me to prepare for the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. Now is the time for us to make our discipleship our highest priority." – President Russell M. Nelson, "The Lord Jesus Christ Will Come Again", October 2024 General Conference

Pretty strong words from the Lord's living prophet.  The time is drawing near for the Savior to come again.  It is more imperative now than ever to prepare for His return.  Choosing to follow Christ is the most important thing we can do. 

"Jesus Christ took upon Himself your sins, your pains, your heartaches, and your infirmities. You do not have to bear them alone! He will forgive you as you repent. He will bless you with what you need. He will heal your wounded soul. As you yoke yourself to Him, your burdens will feel lighter. If you will make and keep covenants to follow Jesus Christ, you will find that the painful moments of your life are temporary. Your afflictions will be “swallowed up in the joy of Christ.”

I love that last paragraph.  It is neither too early nor too late to become a devout disciple of Jesus Christ.  In doing so, we will experience the full blessings of His Atonement.  Many people feel like they are a lost cause.  That they are too far gone and it is too late for them to repent.  This is simply not true.  The living prophet just reiterated that.

"My dear brothers and sisters, in a coming day, Jesus Christ will return to the earth as the millennial Messiah. So today I call upon you to rededicate your lives to Jesus Christ. I call upon you to help gather scattered Israel and to prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord. I call upon you to talk of Christ, testify of Christ, have faith in Christ, and rejoice in Christ!" – President Russell M. "In a coming day, Jesus Christ will return to the earth."  It was very powerful to hear the Prophet speak these words.  Then he exhorted us to rededicate our lives to Christ. 

"Come unto Christ and “offer your whole [soul]” to Him. This is the secret to a life of joy!"– President Russell M. Nelson, "The Lord Jesus Christ Will Come Again", October 2024 General Conference 

The secret to joy in life is to come unto Christ and offer our whole soul to Him.  Very simple yet so many people are miserable because they refuse to follow Christ. 

"The best is yet to come, my dear brothers and sisters, because the Savior is coming again! The best is yet to come because the Lord is hastening His work. The best is yet to come as we fully turn our hearts and our lives to Jesus Christ.

"I bear my solemn witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I am His disciple. I am honored to be His servant. At His Second Coming, “the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.” That day will be filled with joy for the righteous!

"The best is yet to come because the Savior is coming again!  That day will be filled with joy for the righteous!"  I love this so much!  The words of the Prophet are true.  President Nelson is the Lord's living prophet.  He is the Lord's mouthpiece.  The Savior is coming again.  Soon.  May we all "fully turn our hearts and our lives to Jesus Christ".  In doing so, we will be "filled with joy" at His Second Coming.

The Savior's Gospel and His Church

I also really liked Elder Renlund's talk.  He started his talk by explaining the origin of dynamite.  Nitroglycerin as an explosive was too unstable to be useful.  But when mixed with diatomaceous earth it became a powerful explosive useful for blasting through rock.

"In a similar way, the combination of the gospel of Jesus Christ and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides powerful and transformative benefits for us. The gospel is perfect, but a divinely commissioned church is required to preach it, maintain its purity, and administer its sacred ordinances with the Savior’s power and authority."  – Elder Dale G. Renlund, October 2024 General Conference

So many people think that just having the gospel of Jesus Christ is enough.  It's not.  Elder Renlund explains in his talk why The Church is necessary.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the vehicle for the gospel of Jesus Christ to be preached and administer the necessary ordinances with the Savior's proper authority.

"The Church is simply ordinary people, disciples of Jesus Christ, gathered and organized into a divinely appointed structure that helps the Lord accomplish His purposes. The Church is the instrument through which we learn the central role of Jesus Christ in Heavenly Father’s plan. The Church offers the authoritative way for individuals to participate in ordinances and make lasting covenants with God. Keeping those covenants draws us closer to God, gives us access to His power, and transforms us into who He intends us to become.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was established by Jesus Christ himself and is His Church.

Yes, the combination of the Savior's gospel and His Church truly does transform our lives.  It certainly has transformed mine.  I'm so thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am also extremely grateful to be a member of His Church.  It has been the greatest blessing of my life.

Don't Trade Everything for Nothing

I really loved General Conference this past weekend.  The transcripts just came out so I want to post some of my favorite quotes that stood out to me. 

" “O youth of the noble birthright, carry on, carry on, carry on!” I testify that you are loved—and you are trusted—today, in 20 years, and forever. Don’t sell your birthright for a mess of pottage. Don’t trade everything for nothing. Don’t let the world change you when you were born to change the world. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."  – Brother Bradley R. Wilcox, October 2024 General Conference

Members of the Church have taken upon themselves the great responsibility of living righteously on the covenant path and helping others to do the same.  Brother Wilcox likened being a member of the Church to being a crew member on a cruise.  The crew members have a responsibility to help and serve the passengers, but they are also compensated.  Likewise, members of the Church are compensated by receiving blessings including increased happiness, peace, and confidence.

Andersen has said, “There is a compensatory spiritual power for the righteous,” including “greater assurance, greater confirmation, and greater confidence.” Like Abraham of old, you receive greater happiness and peace, greater righteousness, and greater knowledge." – Brother Bradley R. Yet, many members of the Lord's Church have traded everything for nothing by leaving the covenant path.  Don't fall into Satan's trap by leaving the covenant path for the world.  Don't sell your birthright for a bowl of stew.  Live up to your full potential of your noble birthright.
