RIP Elder Robert D. Hales

Today an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ has died.  Elder Robert D. Hales, Of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles, died in between conference sessions.  He was 85 years old.

Elder Hales had prepared a few remarks for this General Conference.  Elder Andersen shared with us a few lines Elder Hales had prepared to give.
“When we choose to have faith we are prepared to stand in the presence of God. After the Savior’s crucifixion, He appeared only to those who had been faithful in the testimony of Him while they lived in mortality. Those who rejected the testimonies of the prophets could not behold the Savior’s presence nor look upon His face. Our faith prepares us to be in the presence of God.”
Those words seem especially apropos at this time as Elder Hales graduates mortality and is now in the presence of God.  Elder Hales was most certainly prepared to stand in the presence of God.

I am always inspired by great men who are faithful in their testimony of the Lord.  Such was the life of Elder Robert D. Hales. He is a wonderful example of Christlike service.
"His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."  -- Matthew 25:23
RIP Elder Hales.

  1. I also liked how Elder Andersen used the word "graduate" when he spoke of Elder Hales' death.
A great man who was definitely prepared. I thought it was awesome that Elder Nelson felt inspired to rush to the hospital between sessions, and was able to be there when Elder Hales "graduated" and be there as a support to his wife and family.
