Super Bowl Advertisement

I received the following in my e-mail this morning:

"If you hadn’t heard, Focus on the Family is running a TV commercial during the Superbowl that tells the beautiful and touching story of Tim Tebow, the Heisman Award Winning Quarterback for the Florida Gators.

The ad is rumored to encourage a culture of life, and pro-abortion groups have gone, for lack of a better word, ballistic. They are demanding that CBS immediately stop the commercial from airing. In a letter to CBS, a coalition of pro-abortion groups actually said that “…abortion is a controversial issue and anti-abortion vitriol has resulted in escalated violence against reproductive health service providers and their patients, including the murder of Dr. George Tiller during Sunday morning service at his church. We sincerely hope you do not want CBS associated with this brand of un-American hate.”

To their credit, CBS has responsibly agreed to broadcast the commercial. We are proud of Tim Tebow and excited to see this during the game. "-Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D.

I am not a Tim Tebow fan. As matter of fact, I can’t gut the guy. But, I do applaud him for standing up for what he believes in. I heard about this commercial a day or two ago. From what I understand, the commercial is Tim Tebow’s mother stating that doctors told her to abort her fifth child. She chose not to follow their counsel. As a result, Tim Tebow was born.

It’s hard to believe that this commercial is even a controversy. What’s even more absurd is the pro-abortion people talking about murder. As if that’s not their whole agenda.

Once again, what is true, right, moral, and good is being twisted into “un-American hate”. What is good is called evil and what is evil is called good.

Isaiah. 5: 20

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

That’s my two cents.

  1. I don't know if anybody remembers this, but when Derrinda was pregnant with Elijah, the doctor found something in one of the ultrasounds that she was concerned about. Some kind of cyst in his head or something. She said something to the effect that if we wanted to "explore our options" because he could be born with physical or mental impairment. My first thought was "what options?" then I realized she meant aborting the baby. Derrinda and I just looked at eachother like "what is this crazed loon thinking?" Of course we were having the baby. Can you imagine us having aborted little Elijah over some stupid doctors concern? Thankfully, he was a perfectly healthy baby, but even if he wasn't, he would still be our son and we would do what we needed to do to take care of him the best we could no matter what.

  2. Life would not be the same without little, smiley, happy Elijah. That is ridiculous that people think nothing of killing. What don't they get about the fact that a baby is alive?
It is disgusting that there is any controversy at all in telling a happy story of someones life that was-because a mother chose life for her child over abortion. Good thunder. This world is messed up! Really it's just as if the pro-abortion people are saying they prefer that the guy was never born. To be so negative towards him like that is absurd. What is their point? Do they not know how utterly IDIOTIC they sound in their so-called defense of choice? (Apparently not). It really is pathetic.
