Facts Don't Care about Your Feelings

To borrow a line from Ben Shapiro, "Facts don't care about your feelings." People are getting more and more panseric (wimpy) as time goes on.  People are more and more easily offended.  Accolades and honors don't really mean anything anymore because they are handed out willy-nilly to everybody.  Case in point, Taylor Swift – who I imagine hasn't set foot in a school classroom since probably elementary school – just received an honorary doctorate degree.  For what?!  What has she ever done except sing a few songs and be famous?  Kids are handed out trophies for just participating?  What about actually winning?  What about putting in hard work to be able to beat your competitors?

What about fair competitions?  Now we have men competing against women in sports.  What thrill is there in a man beating a woman?  How is that fair?  Don't you think there's a reason why men's and women's sports have been separated from the beginning of time?  The fact is that men are physically faster, stronger, and can outperform women in every aspect of physical competition.  Men and women are built differently.  Starting in utero boys and girls are different.  Baby boy embryos produce their own testosterone affecting every cell of the body during development, including brain development.  These are facts.  Delusions and mental illness don't change facts.

It doesn't matter what you think or how you feel, truth is truth.  Facts are facts.  Facts and truth don't care about your feelings.  They are unchanging.

A boy will never be a girl and vice versa.  God's laws are truths.  They don't change.  Despite what society or the laws of the land say, a man can never marry a man and a woman can never marry a woman.  The fact is, only marriage between a man and a woman is valid in God's eyes.

Infidelity and adultery are never okay.  You will never be truly happy in living that lifestyle.  You can fool yourself and pretend that you're happy.  But no one can ever be truly happy while breaking God's laws.  These are facts.  This is truth.

I'm not trying to be a doomsayer, repentance is real.  We all make mistakes.  We can all repent.  But there is a process we must go through after breaking God's laws, to find true happiness again.  It is called repentance.

This brings to mind the current top news story over the past couple of days – which isn't really news at all – that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife's hair.  I'm not sure it wasn't staged for publicity but who cares really?  The reason I'm bringing this up though is because of the deeper issue of Will Smith's marriage and open infidelity.  This is the core of his misery.  He is a broken man.  Pretending to be okay with infidelity doesn't bring happiness.

I saw part of the interview where Jada Pinkett Smith was openly bragging about her marriage infidelity in front of her husband, Will Smith.  She matter-of-factly discussed – with her husband, with cameras rolling – stepping out on her husband because she wasn't happy, and hadn't been happy for a while – as if committing adultery made her happy.  Then Will Smith said something about her airing her transgressions on national TV.  And she retorted that she didn't feel like they were transgressions.  How is infidelity/adultery not a transgression?  It is actually a sin.

These people are living in La La land.  They don't live in reality. Will Smith pretended like his wife's adultery was okay with him.   But despite being an Oscar-winning actor, Will Smith could not hide the pain in his eyes.  It's obvious that Will Smith is a broken man.  It's just so sad.

Obviously living a sinful lifestyle, willfully rebelling against God, is not healthy.  Their kids are also obviously suffering the unfortunate consequences of their parents' bad choices.  They are both also extremely messed up and miserable.  It's very sad when others have to suffer the consequences of someone else's terrible choices.

There is no happiness found in breaking God's laws – whether ignorantly or willfully rebelling – there is only misery.  "Wickedness never was happiness." (Alma 41:10)  God's laws include natural laws.  Perverting nature, as the LGBT+ people do, is breaking God's laws – and therefore results in misery.  This is evidenced by the much higher suicide rate among the LGBT+ people.

Fact is, perversions are not natural (by definition).  I truly feel sorry for those who suffer from same-sex attraction, body dysmorphia, or any mental illness.  But claiming that living a perverted lifestyle is being your true self is a lie.  And being offended that other people don't believe the lie is absurd.  Coercing others to believe lies doesn't change the truth.  Facts don't care about your feelings.  And convincing others to embrace lies doesn't ease your misery, it just makes others miserable like yourself.  That is Satan's philosophy.

2 Nephi 2:27 "Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself."

Men can't marry men.  Women can't marry women.  Men can't become women.  Women can't become men.  Receiving an honorary doctorate degree doesn't make you a doctor.  Receiving a participation trophy doesn't make you a winner.  Infidelity/adultery is not acceptable nor does it bring happiness.  Stealing something doesn't make it yours.  Pretending to be something you are not, doesn't make you that thing.

Facts don't care about your feelings.  Pretending otherwise doesn't change the truth.  Lying to yourself and others won't bring you happiness.  Right is right and wrong is wrong.  God's laws don't change and going against God's laws only brings misery.

God wants all of us to be happy.  If you're miserable, take a look at your life and change it.  Repentance is real.  Anyone can repent.  Repentance isn't a punishment, but a blessing.

Choices always bring consequences.  Make the choice to follow God's laws and be happy.  Don't be buffaloed by Satan and choose misery.

No, facts don't care but your feelings  – but God does.

That's my two cents.
